The Wilmington Blue Rocks fell, 11-6, against Hub City Spartanburgers on Thursday night for the third straight game at Frawley Stadium. During his second professional start, Riley Maddox gave up three hits, a triple, a walk, and a home run, which put the Hub City Spartanburgers up by six after the first inning.
The score stayed stagnant, but the Blue Rocks got their opening with a three-run bottom of the fourth inning.
Despite the run by Wilmington, the Spartanburgers kept swinging. Hub City gained another four runs, after Wilmington’s relief pitcher Adam Boucher walked four of their batters across home plate.
While the Blue Rocks had some promising plays, including a two-run sixth inning, they couldn’t keep up with the Hub City offense. The Blue Rocks ended the night with ten hits, but couldn’t push past the Spartanburgers twelve.
The Blue Rocks are set to play the Hub City Spartanburgers on Friday night at Frawley Stadium in hopes to get their first win to the series.
