In a bittersweet, yet still energetic performance, Glassboro-based LVNA bid farewell to the fans for the final time. LVNA has been a hugely impactful group in the local DIY music scene since their first show.
At a basement venue, on Saturday, Nov. 22, people packed the small crowd space in order to send off LVNA during their final show. LVNA headlined, and was supported by Loud And Clear and longtime collaborators Calling From Pluto.
LVNA was first concocted in late 2023 and has since made appearances in Rowan’s Battle of the Bands, Rowan Skateboarding’s Spring Skate Jam, Hollybash, as well as countless other appearances at local venues since their inception. They have proven to be indispensable to the music scene.
LVNA is made up of vocalist Maddie Reddy, whose energy on stage is always the topic of discussion, guitarist Liz Rohr, who passionately sings alongside Reddy, bassist Jeremy Vrablic, who brings a calm coolness to the stage, and drummer Amanda Senatore, whose abilities on the drum kit cannot be overstated.
The final setlist consisted of seven originals, including REM, an explosive, yet somewhat mournful pop punk piece, which sits at just under 20,000 listens on Spotify. They also played four covers, including “Loud Bark” by Mannequin Pussy and “Still Into You” by Paramore.
Many fans had thoughts on LVNA’s time around here, including student of pre-business and Outcry member Taylor Sniscak, who shared the impact LVNA has had.
“When I first moved here,” Sniscak said, “LVNA was one of the first bands I got introduced to. Everybody in the band was so genuine and dedicated to their music. Their whole schtick is that they loved each other and playing together, and the chemistry was incredible. I take most of my inspiration from them.”
LVNA’s performances across town are a testament to the talent and creativity of the music scene nurtured here at Rowan.
Former drummer of LVNA, Ben Kornak, who is a senior studying music therapy, opened up about his brief time playing with the band.
“I played with LVNA for four months,” recalled Kornak, “I played the drums. For such a young band, they had such great stage presence and great original music. It’s hard to find that with a young band, and find songwriters who have a sound and style that works. I enjoyed playing shows with them; they are great people and a great band. Rest in peace.”
LVNA announced their departure via an Instagram post, thanking their biggest supporters and promising to release all unreleased music. No reason was given for the band’s farewell.
Maddie Reddy shared her thoughts on the band’s final moments and offered her reason why the band broke up.
“I’m just really grateful for this opportunity, ” said Reddy, “ to be in a band with such talented people and to create music that we love, and to give that over to our audience, and for them to give us back so much love and support. It’s been an incredible experience, and something I’ll remember forever. Honestly, all good things come to an end.”
When asked about why the band broke up, Reddy said, “Stuff happens.”
The emotions ran rampant for everyone at the end of the show. However, it wasn’t all sad. There was a degree of optimism, as the fans look forward to whatever the talented members of LVNA have in store for the future.
Jeremy Vrablic teased upcoming projects while reflecting on his time with LVNA.
“It was my introduction to music. It got me into being the bass player I am today. I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot. It was literally week one of coming to school that they asked me to join the band, and I stuck with it. We were together for like two years. It’s sad to see us go, but this will set up for a future project I may be making,” said Vrablic.
Overall, it is with heavy hearts that we send off LVNA, and with patient ears that we await new music from the members’ respective projects in the future.
