Rowan finished their senior night strong with a 6-3 win over Rider University this past Saturday. The Profs finished their last home game this season at Holleydell Ice Arena in Sewell. The Profs pick up their 21st win of the season, and are on a six-game heater.
“I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot,” assistant captain and defenseman Riley Rudolph said. “I just love all these guys.”
Although it would be Rowan who would score a goal near the midway point in the first period, as Rider created a 2-on-1 chance and buried the goal.
However, Rowan was able to get their stick on the puck for deflections in front of the net all night, and took over in the second, as they scored five goals.
Senior assistant captain and winger Josh Bianchi, on his final home game at Hollydell, picked up three points on the night, two goals and one assist.
“It’s really special, especially with this group of guys,” Bianchi said. “It’s been a blessing, I don’t take it for granted.”
Bianchi would score off a deflection when sophomore defenseman Zander Robinson fired a shot from the blueline in the second period. He scored his second goal of the night in the second period, finishing a rebound after deflecting another shot from Robinson at the blue line.
Multiple players collected two points for the Profs on the night. One of them is sophomore assistant captain and center Brian Bowman, and sophomore winger Max Findley. Both tallied a goal and an assist against Rider.
“We got a lot of young, active guys here who really want to win,” senior captain Nick Thomas said.
Rowan now looks to the playoffs, where they’ll head to Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, North Carolina. The Profs, ranked 11th in the Men’s Division II Southeast division in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), will face the sixth seed.
“Definitely an improvement from last year,” Thomas said. “But, we still got some work to do.”
